Direct payments to athletes, Title IX changes and more

If you've noticed that I haven't been writing as much lately, it's because all my writing energy is going into consulting work right now as athletic departments plan for a future that might include direct compensation to athletes, revenue sharing and even employment.

I have, however, been tracking all the new laws, lawsuits and rule changes out there. I recently joined Basepath to chat through the latest just days after Virginia made its big law change. You can catch the replay here.

We also have yet another lawsuit in the battle between FSU and the ACC. We've updated our college sports lawsuit tracker to include this new action by Florida's Attorney General.

For those attending NACDA convention in Vegas, I've been busy putting together three days of NIL panels and roundtables (Sunday-Tuesday). I hope to see many of you there!

If you're a young professional attending convention, take advantage of the cover letter/resume and mock interview workshop I host every year (it's our 10-year anniversary!). If you're a more experienced college athletics professional and willing to volunteer an hour or more of your time to provide reviews and feedback, hit Reply to this email and let me know.
